Dorf Ketal Establishes a Reliable Digital EHS Framework

“Dorf Ketal” stands for Drilling Oil Refining Fuels and Ketone Aldehydes. It is one of the largest suppliers of process chemicals and additives for petrochemicals, refineries, polymers, plastics, lubrication, and oil stimulation industry. The twenty largest refineries in the world use their products. They are also the largest manufacturer of organometallic catalysts.

Their oldest manufacturing base in India is currently spread over five sites. The need for a better EHS management system started from one plant.

Innate hazards working in background drive chemical industries. Chemical handling, large-scale synthesis, and control reaction-driven mechanisms for manufacturing the final chemical product demand material compatibility and process compatibility assessments. This also means proactive vigilance of the physical manufacturing systems and the need for established contamination control mechanisms.

Due to Dorf Ketal’s stringent requirements, painstaking efforts were made to ensure a similar EHS workflow. The customized EHS software then underwent a rigorous 160-point revision to accurately fit the needs.

Dorf Ketal uses EHS software at five different sites with nearly 260 users. Their training management module helps them identify and address workers who missed crucial training. This allows them to plan and schedule mandatory training sessions according to their compliance strategy.

The incident management module digitally records hazardous incidents like accidents, incidents, or near-misses, while EHS software helps foster safety practices. Behavior-based safety uses EHS data to pinpoint safe and risky behaviors, enabling corrective actions and training. Continuously aggregating EHS data allows for comparison, aiding EHS personnel in promoting safe behavior.
