Solution

Digital PTW System (ePTW)

Challenge

  • Outdated and paper-based processes

  • Complex Subprocedures

  • Multiple Equipment Isolations

  • Limited Time

  • Limited Kechnical knowledge

They engaged TECH EHS to implement an electronic system to enhance productivity.

A Tata Group company always ensures the highest quality and safety orientation as a part of their work ethics. This prestigious project was no different. Hence, getting registered as a service vendor within the organization meant passing through stringent quality and safety scrutiny processes.

In the pre-commissioning phase of their 4000 MW project at Mundra, Tata Power wanted to adopt an electronic system to enhance their productivity manifold. With this intention, they contacted TECH EHS and explained their requirement.

In partnership with Tata Power’s project management team, TECH EHS produced a targeted ‘Scope of work’ that addressed each of their challenges and, as a result, was awarded the project to implement the software solution.

Their existing system was dated and used a paper-based system that included many intricate subprocedures within a single frame. The permit life cycle was predefined and included several equipment isolations as part of the system. They wanted the new system to be integrated with their existing SAP (PM) system. The notifications would be generated by the prevalent system, and they were then required to be addressed in the e-PTW system for further processing

The software had to be simple enough for users. Most personnel designated to use the

software did not have enough time as they were part of the operations team. Hence, the software system had to be user-friendly.

Solution

  • Gathering requirements and analyzing the situation.

  • Refined the processes to develop a focused scope.

  • Customized Electronic Signatures

The TECH EHS Request Gathering Team and Technical Team visited the client site, got a brief idea of the client’s requirements, and analyzed the situation. After several brainstorming sessions and technical and expert intervention, TECH EHS determined that these processes need to be developed with a targeted scope.

As the initial paper-based processes included many intricate sub-processes within a single frame, it was essential to have a customized solution in the form of Electronic Signatures. The e-PTW software, designed and developed by TECH EHS, had all the solutions to meet client requirements. ePTW software was able to replicate the paper-based system, which included raising permit requests, monitoring its entire life-cycle, including the whole gamut of HSE requirements, histories of equipment’s isolation till the closure of the permit.

Our EHS experts conducted onsite visits and successfully imparted training to the manpower involved. The ‘Electronic System’ simplified the otherwise complex system and flawlessly fulfilled all its aims.
