Solution

EHS Management Software

Challenge

  • Traditional EHS system
  • Non Transparency
  • Inadequate Tracking
  • No Metrics for Preventive Measures

Transparency and proper tracking were the biggest hindrances in managing the industrial assets.

GMR Energy, a division of the GMR Group, boasts a significant operational capacity of over 4400 MW, utilizing a varied fuel mix and experiencing rapid growth in critical sectors. With a focus on enhancing operational performance, it embraces digital transformation by adopting EHS management software to overcome traditional hurdles.

Energy projects entail numerous simultaneous activities managed through a risk-based approach, demanding effective planning due to aggressive schedules and challenging environmental conditions. EHS management software enhances overall performance by managing a diverse workforce and addressing competency concerns.

The main objective was to align processes with integrated management systems that were compliant with OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 standards. TECH EHS measures system implementation against user requirements, aiming for comprehensive safety encompassing people, processes, and work environments. GMR’s enthusiasm for adopting behavior and safety-based strategies aligns with its vision of transitioning to ISO 45001 in the future, supported by software compatibility and uniform EHS processes.

Solution

  • Interactive Dashboards
  • Critical Safety Information Tracking
  • Employee-based workflow approval
  • Improved operational performance
  • Real-time notifications and escalation alerts
  • Streamlined data collection

To help GMR build an appropriate EHS solution, TECH EHS experts laid out a detailed development strategy after understanding the existing infrastructure and safety capabilities.

During TECH EHS’s initial on-site visit in January 2019, a workshop was held to explain their modern safety management approach, consisting of three primary components:

  • Work Environment: GMR prioritized considerations for workplace location and various hazards, emphasizing the need for a robust safety management system.
  • People: Understanding and managing the relationship between individuals, groups, and supervision, focusing on behavior to identify and mitigate risks, posed a key challenge.
  • Systems: Emphasizing formalized safety practices with defined roles and responsibilities digitally, ensuring accountability for effective program implementation and continuous improvement.

Recognizing the significance of compliance, GMR aimed to address it through digitization. TECH EHS developed a customizable and scalable EHS platform to enhance their overall performance by leveraging their insights into GMR’s core competencies.
