ePTW software supports automotive operations by fast-tracking the maintenance aspect of daily plant activities.

After witnessing a demonstration of TECH EHS ePTW software and subsequent discussions, Bajaj Auto realized the benefits it could offer, such as simplifying and tracking their permit-to-work processes with quicker responses. The traditional hardcopy method for managing PTW is cumbersome for EHS teams and lacks credibility in automated manufacturing facilities. Recognizing the mismatch, Bajaj Auto understood that adopting a safer and trackable ePTW system could enhance productivity. Upon learning about the subscription-based model for the software, Bajaj Auto acknowledged two key points:

  • The feasibility ratio becomes significantly higher than internal development and deployment, increasing cost-effectiveness.

  • EHS domain expertise of TECH EHS endorses its credibility with dedicated support and training, lowering risk.

Outcome

The ePTW software streamlines plant maintenance in day-to-day operations, replacing exhaustive paper-based checklists often used in the automotive sector for permit requests.

Implementing the ePTW software at Bajaj Auto took just 10 days and 2 site visits, with initial training provided to 6 individuals for a controlled rollout. Over 3 weeks, this group focused on usage and provided feedback, allowing TECH EHS to tailor the system to their needs. Minimal hand-holding was needed for rollout across other shops and divisions, with each group training the next. A sought-after feature was the SMS-based approval mechanism, enabling faster approvals, even in the absence of the Director. With 200 users and 50-60 permit requests monthly, Bajaj Auto transitioned from complex hardcopy checklists to a feature-rich web-based dashboard.
