Technical Safety Awareness Videos for internal as well as external stakeholders

India’s most prominent and the world’s second-largest zinc-lead mining subsidiary was looking for a solution to ensure that the workmen on their premises were aware of the hazards and their corresponding prevention measures. The movie will be used by them as a safety awareness initiative for their internal and external stakeholders.

Training proved to be time-consuming & cumbersome. This led to trainees’ boredom, resulting in partial attention to the sessions. Hence, the information wasn’t delivered in its entirety. It was challenging to develop a solution that provided a thorough and elaborate understanding of hazards, and for the workers, it wasn’t easy to comprehend and assess the hazards.

Comprehending & evaluating the possible hazards involved in technical work, as it became extremely inevitable to provide the workers with a thorough and elaborate understanding of methods to avoid all sorts of menaces thus occurring. Though the lectures and presentations were well-equipped with details and images and were made considering the target audience, they weren’t wholly successful in expressing the gravity of mishaps, especially in the case of following SOPs.

Every induction required qualified trainers to pass on the learnings to the audience(s). All the drawbacks mentioned above could result in fatal injuries and possible casualties that don’t work positively for a company’s reputation.

Utilizing reference materials provided by the client, animated videos were strategically developed to emphasize crucial aspects and ensure widespread dissemination of information. From the conceptual phase onwards, TECH EHS’ EHS experts engaged in a detailed analysis of requirements and EHS data, culminating in creating a comprehensive script tailored to achieve program objectives.

Drawing from the client’s safety standards, the animated movies were meticulously crafted to educate workers on safety culture, workplace hazards, and precautionary measures for incident prevention. These videos incorporated essential “Dos and don’ts” to be adhered to during site operations and highlighted the significance of the permit process for task execution. Moreover, critical task-related information, such as working alone and in adverse weather conditions, was effectively communicated to enhance workers’ understanding and adherence to safety protocols.

The animated movies’ impact on workers was evident, as they succeeded in creating awareness and promoting safe practices at the worksite. By reducing the duration of the induction program to a mere 20-30 minutes compared to the previous two-hour session, significant savings in time, resources, and costs were realized for the organization. Furthermore, the one-time investment in the movie obviated the need for recurrent hiring of trainers during new recruitments, ensuring effective information delivery regardless of audience size.

Produced in the local (native) language, the movie facilitated better communication and engagement with the audience, fostering a deeper connection with the content. Its absorptive nature enabled workers to comprehend and internalize the gravity of events, resulting in higher retention and recall values that facilitated the transition to safer behaviors.
